Barbette

(I'm not staring, really!...ok I'm checking out the guy accross the room..he he he)
Tracy and I hit up Cafe Barbette a few nights back for late night wine and mussels...mmmm! It was one of the very first nice evenings we had in a long while, so naturally we felt the urge to get off our asses and walk around Uptown. I don't get quite the same hook up since my ex left the business, but what can you do...ex's come and go, a great place to drink is priceless. (ha, sounds like the commercial)

Weekend Recap

Over the weekend my car officially died. Something cracked in the wheel-axel area as I rounded a corner in my neighborhood and I as forced to let it coast over to the side and park it. The brakes worked but nothing else did. Here's the kicker, somehow I managed to loose the key for the car, and damn if I can find it! (Of course I didn't have the foresight to keep a copy). So now I'm waiting for on a copy to even get in and take out some of the crap in the trunk. Image all of this in the icy cold rain we were having... it just adds to whole damn event!

All in all I'm not terribly upset about it, I've been without a car before and I can get around without one just fine. Luckily I live in the city were taking the transit is actually feasible. If I lived in the burbs I'd be screwed! Another positive factor is that it's spring; anything's better than waiting for the bus in the winter.

Saturday night Erin and I danced it up at the Triple Rock compliments of the "Dance Band". Erin discovered this band a few weeks ago and has been raving about it since. I am sold on them as well, they weren't like any other dance/tech/funk band in Minneapolis ...which in they're case is really good. It was one of the few show's I've been to where the crowd really gets into dancing and having fun. We even had a crowd dance off! The headlining band was "Revolver Modele", which I am totally in love with (particularly the lead singer...oh so cute in his short tight shirt!). They're music plays off of all the great post-punk-gothic artists, and really works for them. http://www.revolvermodele.com/

Prior to my car dying I did manage to pick up the New York City ’s Ballet Workout DVD. I did the full hour workout last night and it was great, plus they used real life dancers for the video and let me just say, male or female, all of the dancers look great. Although, I don't think my hamstrings will ever stretch they way theirs do. (Splits?...not a chance in hell!) Monday, when I was walking to the bus stop and preparing for the day, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the other experiences I’ve had without a car; the whole UofM stint I was totally car-less, and the very painful commute out to 3M (wouldn’t wish that on anyone...really it sucked) I also remember riding my bike everywhere, from Uptown to St.Paul/Snelling, back when I worked at the “shady” vet clinic. I still think the vet was dealing cocaine out of the back room.
